YouTube Rummage Sale Haul Fabulous Vintage Kenneth Jay Lane Necklace

In my latest haul video I have Kenneth Lane vintage necklace from the 1980s. In doing research on Kenneth Lane I found this wonderful website which helped me determine the age of my piece.

You’ve probably heard of Kenneth Jay Lane costume jewelry. He’s been around for a while, making jewelry that looks fancy but doesn’t cost a fortune.

Kenneth Jay Lane started his career in the fashion industry designing shoes for Christian Dior and Scassi. He eventually decided to branch out on his own in the early 1960s. He saw a market for high-quality costume jewelry and figured he could make a name for himself. Turns out, he was right.

His designs became popular pretty quickly. They were flashy, colorful, and often inspired by real high-end jewelry. People liked that they could get something that looked luxurious without spending a ton of money. Celebrities and socialites started wearing his pieces, which definitely helped boost his profile.

One of his big breaks was when Jacqueline Kennedy, the First Lady at the time, wore one of his pieces. It was a three-strand faux pearl necklace, and after she was seen wearing it, everyone wanted one. That set the stage for his success. He produced pieces for Saks, Avon, and QVC.

Over the years, Kenneth Jay Lane’s jewelry has been worn by all sorts of famous people. Think Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, and even Lady Gaga. His designs are still popular today, and they’re often collected as vintage pieces.

I have come across a few Kenneth Jay Lane pieces at rummage sales and thrift stores. They’re usually pretty easy to spot because of their bold designs and quality. Even if you’re not into costume jewelry, you have to admit his stuff has a certain charm.

So, that’s a quick rundown of Kenneth Jay Lane’s history. If you’re looking to add some vintage costume jewelry to your collection, his pieces are definitely worth checking out. They’ve got a bit of history and a lot of style, even if they’re not the real deal.
